Maybe it is really spring?

The weekend looked like this:

Well here. You sit inside and look at everyone else’s photographs and wonder how it could be beautiful in every other locale. Surely that’s not possible. Everywhere in the country?

Everywhere in the country. Except here, where the state color is gray. (The colors are actually blue and gold, like the flag. But that’s only because there was a run on charcoal gray dye when Paul Hadley designed the thing in 1917. Had to be.)

It was pretty today, finally:

A picture perfect postcard day, indeed:

This is the show that wrapped on Friday. It got a bit sappy and silly, but that’s OK. It is the last episode of the award-winning Bloomington Breakfast Club for the year.

Bring on the weekend!

The morning show got a little maudlin today, but they wrapped up in style.

Shows we shot last night:

And now we go into a spring-themed weekend. I’m going to sand wood, ride my bike and look at the flowers. How about you?

More on Instagram and check me out on Twitter as well.

We’re getting down to the year’s last studio sessions

Today’s color scheme is blue.

These awesome cufflinks were a gift from my awesome mother, who once spent a day following me in her car on a bike course and helped me, with Christmas money, buy one of my bikes. And now I want to go for a ride.

Tonight, though, the sadness begins. We’re winding down the semester, which means change is inevitable. Michael Dugan has hosted this talk show for two years, a steady voice that has given us great topics, cool updates to the segments and, like every good host, always has about 14 more topics than necessary at the ready.

He’s passing over the show to Drew Frey, who has been running audio for the sports shows for more than a year. He started out doing social media segments when we had extra time in the studio and took those opportunities to boost his delivery and tighten up his writing. If he grows into this show like he’s grown into everything else, it’ll be great.

It’s a fun time of year. Seeing the graduating students move on, reflecting on their great promise and watching people step into new roles.

What they shot tonight should be online tomorrow. For now, though, you can see some of the latest shows:

And down the stretch …

Spring might just be here.

Because, you know, middle of April is about when it should show up.

The Little 500 races were this weekend, which is how spring finally knows to make its appearance. I got to go to the men’s race on Saturday.

(Spring, when it does make its grand old way here, can be rather nice. This means there might be more than a few flower photos in our near future.)

On the air

It is audition season at IUSTV. Out with the graduating, and in with the new, basically. It’s a fun time, but an emotional time. It is a time of repetitive scripts and camera shots, and a time of surprises.

Also, we’ve been nurturing a funny little rivalry between two of the entertainment shows. The morning show and the late night crowd have been putting little jokes past one another and recording little tongue-in-cheek promos about one another.

Well. Today, the host of Not Too Late jumped into the auditions of the Breakfast Club. He sat in the control while the crew went through the last segments of the real show and a few auditions. He wrote, on the spot, three minutes of jokes for a new script, and put them before the co-host of the morning show. They were all quite good, and she made us vow to never show it anywhere. She didn’t, however, say anything about gifs.

Entertainment, news, sports, it’s always fun watching them work and giving them a hand. Anyway, here are the last episodes the various crews have produced:
