Kenny is the student media adviser and director of the digital video center at Samford University where he works with students developing cross-platform journalism skills.

Kenny is also a doctoral candidate in communication and information sciences at the University of Alabama. A journalist with experience in all mass media formats, his research centers on how we produce, obtain and use information. His interests are in online credibility and media participation.

He holds a bachelor's degree in agricultural journalism from Auburn University and a master's degree in communication management from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. In his free time Kenny reads, takes photographs, collects things to publish here and rides a bicycle.

Kenny is married to Dr. Lauren Reichart Smith. They have wonderful adventures.
