Kenny is the student media adviser and director of the digital video center at Samford University where he works with students developing cross-platform journalism skills.

Kenny is also a doctoral candidate in communication and information sciences at the University of Alabama. A veteran journalist with experience in all mass media formats, his research centers on how we produce, obtain and use information. His interests are in online credibility, media participation and convergence journalism.

He holds a bachelor's degree in agricultural journalism from Auburn University and a master's degree in communication management from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. In his free time Kenny reads history and memoirs, takes lots of photographs and collects things to publish here.

Kenny is married to Dr. Lauren Reichart Smith. They have many wonderful adventures.
