A day was had

Here are two news show. They talked about campus news and pop culture events.

The two hosts of the pop culture show are seniors, but the anchors on this particular episode of the news show are sophomores, which is quite impressive, really.

Otherwise, my day was full of meetings. A student here, studio time there, a meeting about meetings upstairs. Your standard Wednesday. The best thing about it being that tomorrow is Thursday.

More videos for you to watch

We have students doing a late night show. We’re not just news and sports around here, after all. You can watch an episode online right now:

My friend, Dominick, made me watch this video today:

He said it made my life better. I don’t know about all of that, but it was worth seeing.

So was this:

Studio time

I spent a few minutes in the television studio today with an IDS movie reviewer.

She sits down and does these right after watching the movie. It’s an interesting process. Line, pickup, line, pickup, and then she just jams them all together to get her finished product:

She’s doing that on a DSLR with video capabilities. The studio is a backdrop, a fancy enough setting. But we’re of course producing traditional television productions as well. Here’s a talk show some of the students produced a few days ago. I think so, anyway.

The days tend to run together if you bounce back and forth between the control room and the studio too much. I think it has to do with the darkness in both rooms.

My part has, hopefully, been done for the day

I did my part this morning. It was either that or just accept my plastic and aluminum and cardboard fate. As I did all of the on-site sorting, it started flurrying again.

And I’m not even asking much in return, except for a little meteorological recognition of the time of year.

It’s springtime. It should be sunny and warm. People should be taking vacations and … oh … well, I sorta wrote myself into a corner with this one. The podcast today was about vacation photos and a very popular Instagram account.

And, finally, I did an impromptu and unscripted sports show tonight. I played co-anchor with the guy on the right, in the video below. It was entertaining, at least. And then they all sat down and produced this show, which is still pretty neat to me:

I like to think I’m more of an autumn …

I tried a new shade of tie today. It got several nice compliments.

Maybe people just know I’m not naturally a purple?

I don’t know how your day was, or how her day was, but sometimes you just need to cuddle with someone while they hold your head:

I recorded a podcast today with Dominick Jean, who is a news editor of the Indiana Daily Student. I’m pretty confident in my thinking that I couldn’t have done this when I was his age:

Speaking of cool things our students are doing … IUSTV is launching a new show, the second of the semester. First they rolled out a weekly late night kind of show. It’s fun and fairly clever. And now, here’s the first scripted drama they’ve done in a few years, it will be full of location and field shoots, I’m told. If you’re in town and fit any of these demos, come on and take on a role:

Isn’t that cool? Students have an idea for a program and they can pitch it to the student television station and then they all go out and produce the thing. Lucidious makes the fifth new series they’ve rolled out since I’ve been here. What a wonderful and unique opportunity.

And let’s end this on a precious little video:
