Someone help that man!

I haven’t seen one of these in a long time:

In fact, out of the corner of my eye, while we were riding our bikes through some of the local lowlands, I saw that today and thought it was real. This guy needs help!

That guy is actually a cool decoration.

And I would have stayed around there all day, it was nice and cool in the shade, but there are boxes to unpack. And soup to eat. Here’s the ceiling fan in my spoon in my soup:

Ceiling fan in spoon. #boomerangapp

Leg one is done

We’re at my folks. We’ll be here for a few days. Here are some pictures from the afternoon’s four-hour drive.

Allie, The Black Cat, likes Whataburger:

No surprise there.

Mexico was enchanted by the giant ship in the bottle, which was the huge crab’s plan. The country was never the same again:

Because the rule is that when you drive within 20 miles of a Trader Joe’s you take a side trip to Trader Joe’s. I don’t know why that’s the rule, but that’s the rule.

We had dinner tonight at a Mongolian stir-themed place called Genghis Grill:

I fit right in.

Goodbye, Auburn

You sleep and eat in safety in it, but a house is, really just the place where you put your memories for awhile.

This was a pretty good house, then. Except for the part about being on a haunted burial ground.

But there’s another house waiting, elsewhere.

Goodbye, Auburn.

It’s been real.

Let’s ride bikes

A quick selfie before a ride around town …

We went out riding with one of her graduate students. I suppose he’s a former grad student now, having graduated and all that. He’s from Florida and he was not prepared for anything where his bike, which he’s dusting off and riding again after a good long while, pointed up. And we don’t have real hills here. But we had fun! And that’s the purpose of the bike. One of the points. I’m presently using it for at least three of its modern purposes.

Not a bad Friday

From this afternoon’s 34-mile ride in Columbus, Georgia. That’s Alabama on the left shore, by the way.

And that marks 80 miles for the week so far.

This guy knows how to pick a motorcycle helmet.

At James Brothers, our local bike shop. This beautiful machine is a Felt AR3. List price is $3499.

And this exquisite monster is a Felt IA time trial bike. If you guys want to chip in and buy me a new bike this one lists at $4999.99.

Baseball! And a cell phone shot. You can actually see the baseball.

Not bad at all.
