They sure did make beautiful cars once upon a time. They were already scaling back, but they still look so distinctive after seeing a lifetime of roads full of modern conveyance.

The Plymouth Fury and the lighter Savoy were hits. Almost 199,000 were sold, ranging from $2,500 to $4,500 for a loaded model. You could even get an automatic record player which held and played up to 14 standard 45s.

This was also the first year of the unibody construction, and tail fins were, sadly, on the way out, but the Fury stuck around for a long time. Plymouth was still producing automobiles under that name until 1989.

They did not, however, shrink the roads.
