Werner von Braun knew more about rockets than anyone, but this visualization of Fred Freeman's was a miss. Even today we wouldn't get to the moon like this. But, if you're extrapolating to that day when we might be going to Luna for weekend trips ... maybe this becomes an eventuality.

Freedman died at 81 in 1988. He was a successful commercial artist from the late 1920's through the 30's, served in the Navy during the war then turned to book design and illustration, including books on submarines and destroyers for the United States Naval Institute.
