So, really, the problem with aspiring amateurs goes back a ways. Maybe it goes all the way back. Probably, though, this is a moment trying to shake free of the last point and hope from the older model cameras.

Kodak got a quarter of a century out of the Instamatic line, 1963-1988. It was the predecessor to the point-and-shoot.

And that only pre-dates the phone cameras by a generation or two of technology.

Speaking of which, have you ever had someone take a group picture for you? Aren't they routinely bad? Makes you wonder how bad the pictures are on their phones. Imagine what was on all the old Instamatics.
