Glomeratas

Welcome back to the Glomerata feature where we glance at the covers of the Auburn University yearbook. (I collect ’em, you know.) History, haircuts, unfortunate clothing styles and they make for a handsome display. This week’s installment, linked below, brings us to the chronological end of my not-complete collection.

(Fear not: I have a few more to sneak in over the coming weeks that have been added to my bookshelf since this site feature began.)

Glomeratas

Welcome back to the Glomerata feature where I show off the leather-bound books which dominate a wall of our home. We look through them for history, we laugh at them for cultural double-takes and we try to figure out where the nondescript places in the photographs might be. This isn’t judging books by their covers, but judging covers against one another.

Anyway, this week’s installment, linked below, brings us rapidly closer to the current day. A few more installments and this regular feature will be complete. This set features a cover aspiring to be an odd mix of magazine cover and unfortunate Photoshop filter use.

Glomeratas

Welcome back to the Glomerata feature where I show off big leather-bound books because I think the larger collection looks pretty cool in my house. Also it is fun to look through them, laugh at hairstyles and see what things looked like at Auburn when there were fewer people, fewer cars, fewer buildings and the students still complained about parking. This isn’t judging books by their covers, but judging covers against one another.

Anyway, this week’s installment, linked below, brings us into the 21st century. The first book in my collection is a 1901 edition. (The first Glomerata is an 1897 effort, which I’m still searching for.) There’s a century of corny college jokes, head shots and history resting on my bookshelves. Honestly I’d never thought of it like that until just now.

Glomeratas

Welcome back to the Glomerata feature of the site where we judge books, and perhaps even entire years, by the robust empirical data we can gather from hardbound cover. This is fair, because your average 18-22 year old is always asking him or herself “What will people think of this cover a decade or more, hence?”

Every young person says the word “hence.” Ask them.

Anyway, this week’s additions, linked below, move us rapidly through the end of the 1990s at Auburn University. I’m in these books, so they have that working against them, but the covers are handsome.

Welcome back to the Glomerata feature of the site where we judge books, and perhaps even entire years, by one hardbound cover. This works out well since they are yearbooks. (It is my policy to not judge books by their cover, but I feel entirely justified to allow the book to influence my opinion of sections of a book. I’m progressive.)

This week’s additions, linked below, now squarely in the 1990s are taking a step back in an attraction direction.

At least this hologram is behind us.
