Black and whites

Moffett

We’re in the stretch run of the black and white series. There are six additions to the sometimes-active-sometimes-dormant section today. These are all pictures from Samford. An office down the hall from mine flooded in the fall and I rescued these photographs from a filing cabinet.

There are some pretty remarkable stories in this bunch, including this lovely lady, who worked until she was almost 90.

Go here to see the latest. If you’re new to all this, you can start right here.

Black and whites

Just three quick entries today. One of them is even from somewhere in my own family tree. Embarrassingly, I can’t recall the details. But I’ll get them and update the page. Until now, you can check them out here.

To see the entire collection of random old black and white photographs I’ve picked up from here and there — now 83 strong! — start here.

Black and whites

Six new additions to the Black and Whites section. Click that link to start at the beginning, or if you’ve been following along (and bless you for that) you can see the most recent entries here.

Today’s six entries get us up to 80 in the random series of old pictures. I think I’ll work up to 100 and close the section. The last 10 pictures I’m eying on e-bay right now. They are old Samford photographs. Speaking of Samford, the last one in this installment was on faculty at the university for decades.

Black and whites

Not my most inspired writing efforts. (It is late, I am tired.)

So I made up for it by offering you more of the uninspired writing.

Let’s blame the pictures, shall we?

At any rate, see the latest from the Black and White section. Or you can start at the beginning.

Black and whites

My, how fashion has changed. In this week’s series of old pictures we see argyle on children, ridiculous clodhoppers and America’s last bonnets.

All this and more from the snapshots of people who lived a lifetime ago. It isn’t ghoulish if you imagine them as merely very old.

Four pictures, starting here. See the entire series from here.
