The Nagato was badly damaged at Brunei in November of 1944. She sailed away for repairs, but there was a lack of fuel and materials meant one of Japan's last capital ships became a half-operational floating anti-aircraft battery.

Maybe a Zippo could capture that. The USS Iowa and the USS Horace A. Bass took custody of the Nagato during the occupation in August of '45, so we'll assume that Sarter was aboard one of those, but the Internet doesn't know anything about him.
