To my mind, recipes in magazines are the ultimate throwback. And an advertising campaign built around aluminum foil is the quintessential throwback.

Reynolds started in 1919, as a supplier of lead and tin foil wrappers to cigarette and candy companies. They begin in Kentucky, then moved to New York and finally Virginia.

During World War II the company built a plant about 10 miles from where my grandfather lived. They were a big part of the war effort, and were still in operation when this magazine was published. In the 1990s they sold that plant to Alcoa, which now owns all of Reynolds.

I wonder if we would find this recipe tasty today.
