It shouldn&#8217;t even have appeared monastic, honestly. We&#8217;re on the lovely <a TARGET=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.lclark.edu\/\">Lewis &#038; Clark<\/a> campus. Small liberal arts college, some very nice scenery, though we are mostly stuck in the one building, Smith Hall.<\/p>\n<p>We took a little afternoon walk to a nearby circle, sat on a bench and chatted for a minute, just to break up the reading and thinking. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.kennysmith.org\/photo\/july11\/july100.jpg\" alt=\"trees\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Nearby is the 35-room Tudor-style Frank Manor House, built in the 1920s for Lloyd Frank, of the Meier &#038; Frank department store family. I&#8217;m told he donated the land to the college, and today his former home houses the administrative offices.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.kennysmith.org\/photo\/july11\/july101.jpg\" alt=\"FrankManorHouse\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Elsewhere, I&#8217;m writing a literature review.
