There's a four page spread on the College of Vetrinary Medicine. Founded in 1892, it is the oldest vet school in the South, and the seventh oldest in the nation.
And there's no good photograph here. It boasted the only facility in the world devoted solely to studying and curing inherited diseases in companion animals. It is home to the Southeastern Raptor Rehabilitation Center, a top of the line facility. They built a brand new equine reproduction building during 1996. The photographs show off the ratites -- flightless birds like ostriches and rheas -- and an Open House which showed off a lot of the large animal clinic work.
Check out the eyes on that kid.
About this time, and on the adjoining page, the state found itself in a serious budget crunch that ultimately contributed to some academic restructuring. For a brief while, if memory serves, the vet school was in fear of having their accreditation damaged. In the 11th hour, however, a big donation was delivered. The day was saved and top notch animal work continues.
