The 1975-76 academic year was a topsy-turvy experience for Auburn athletics. The usual dominant football team was regularly frustrated by poor play and the basketball team, a perennial struggling squad played above themselves.

Players matured, recruits blossomed and the team played before a record crowd of 12,612 against Alabama.

Starting off strong Auburn finished with a 16-10 record. Three of the losses were by only one or two points. The team was inconsistent, and there were disappointments, but the Glomerata declared that basketball had arrived in the loveliest vilage.

The Glom was also proud of the flashy new uniforms.

Center "Myles Patrick delighted friend and foe with a pre-game Globetrotter ritual, and (Guard) Stan Pietkiewicz hit shots from almost as far out as the Lee County line."

Pietkiewicz would play for four teams in the NBA, Mike Mitchell had a decade of NBA service. Myles Patrick played one season in the pros. Senior leader Gary Redding would become a high profile accountant and public servant in Georgia.
