The 1975 cheerleaders had big pom poms to replace. The Glomerata notes that the 1974 squad was ranked number one in the nation, but there's no word on how this was calculated back then.
These 13 cheerleaders would do a great deal. Linwood Moore was Auburn's first black cheerleader. He and the squad would appear on national television in the Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Telethon.
This group would do a lot away from the crowds as well. One was an All American, became a school teacher and is married to a prominent Alabama politician. Another is a hospital president in Mississippi and another ran one of the largest privately held real estate firms in the country. Another is a dentist, an aerobics instructor and was, fleetingly, a movie star.
Not bad for guys and girls who had to cheer through a tough sporting season.
