We'll discuss the ROTC a bit later as well, but this picture makes it in the front of the book and should be shared here.

It is in the fold of the book, so my apologies for the crease, but it doesn't take away from the beauty of the picture or the martial tones. ROTC service was compulsory at Auburn into the 1960s and given that this was 1952-53 these young men likely just missed out on being shipped to Korea.

Auburn has a long tradition of producing soldiers with exemplary military service, but the thought still brings one pause: these young men were preparing for a war, but fortunately peace beat them to the front.
