Again with no caption we're forced to speculate, but I'm guessing this is from the ODK Cake Race. It seems a familiar scene from that tradition, which will turn up again later.

Any of these young men could have been my grandfather. This would have been his freshman yearbook, remember, and these guys are all freshmen. You can tell by the Rat Caps.

All freshmen had to wear them, a tradition that would carry on for a few more years. The students wrote messages on them and no one wanted to be caught without it on their head when they ran across an upper classman.
