These guys are paying for something.

By the time I got to Auburn the registration was celebrating its second year as a phone system. During my time on the Plains they shifted to online registration. There was much rejoicing.
These days, however, if you choose to pay the University in person you walk into a big room that looks like a bank, and as you approach the wall of tellers it begins to feel more and more like a dystopian Python skit. There you are, the little student, and there they are, leaning down over you, snatching up your wallet.
At least back then they had to physically look up to see you.
