They came up with a lot of creative skits, though.
Judging by this photo, and a nearby picture depicting a scene at the medical clinic, I assume that there was a nice flu bug going around in early 1953.
Apparently the little virus set up camp somewhere just off of Thach Avenue. Had their own headquarters and everything. White gloves and union cards too. Those flu bugs, they're organized.
Why would a flu wear gloves? Wouldn't that be counterproductive?
The caption for the other photograph about the medical clinic was written in either high praise or full snark. We're left to assume that they handled the flu with ease or, more likely, it is amazing anyone survived.
When I was on campus the health clinic was legendary for their diagnosis. You were either pregnant or had strep throat. Didn't matter if you were male or female, those were your options.
I actually did some photography for the clinic as they were undergoing rennovations and I got to know the staff well. They were all nice and competent people. The strep/pregnant story is more fun, though.
