Looks like they may have a slightly bigger screen than the Kappa Sigs. Slightly bigger. I bet there's not a room in either one of their fraternity houses with a screen this small today.

They have nicer socks too. That guy in the foreground is wearing a dandy pair. Maybe that's what the caption was referring to.

That's two photographs almost in a row in the book with television playing the key role. These are in common areas so the House could afford them, but the students obviously could not. Still, you get the sense that everybody knew where this was going, that television was going to be a big thing.

Incidentally, the last time I was in a fraternity house in Auburn the big screen television, about as large as the wall in this photograph, was the key player. I was back in town visiting friends and they were watching Pulp Fiction for the umpteenth time. I wonder how that would have played in 1953.
