Midshipmen were in uniform on Tuesdays and Thursdays, a tradition that still stands if I'm not mistaken.

If they went through all four years of the program they could select the Navy or the Marine Corps. About 16 percent joined the Marines.

Here the midshipmen are training for Action. That's capital "A" to you. "A" as in "Artillery," as in "Anti Aircraft," as in "All over your beaches!" There's no room for any of that lower case action in the Navy!

They had a mock destroy in the military hangar. Doesn't say here if this is the mock-up or something a little more sincere when it says "KABOOM!"

Summer cruises took the Middies to England, Scandinavia, Europe, the West Indies and Cuba. Not a bad way to spend your summer.
