For the students of the early '50s things were changing.

Bullard Field was named in honor of General Robert Lee Bullard, World War I hero and Auburn alumnus.

It was used as a drill field and for recreation, but progress must be served. In 1952 five women's dorms were built in that space. The drill field would be moved to the north side of campus, the recreation activities would later settle on intramural fields on the western edge of the campus.
