Miss Auburn, 1952. Thanks Jerry and Dean, nice choice indeed.

She's a classy lady, but I wonder how that dress was received 50 years ago. And those black matching heels! Scandalous!

All of the ladies in the contest were beautiful, and I'm sure they are among the most attractive 70somethings you could find today. As warm and inviting as Miss Auburn's smile is I can just imagine the cookies she's spent the last 20 years making for her kid's kids.

Every so often it'll come up at Christmas or some reunion. "Grandma, tell us again about the time you were a beauty queen."

And then she turns happy, wise eyes back to a different place and talks about something called The Rat Pack, and two very funny men. "Funnier than Jim Carrey?" Yes hon. "Will Ferrell too?" Heavens, yes. All day long.

I'm fairly certain that chair, or one just like it, remains on campus today.
