These are "The Gymnastabats" of which I'd never heard before opening this yearbook.
The story goes that athletic students got together, began practicing and before long were entertaining the audience at events at the Sports Arena. They practiced for two or three hours a day, at least 45 minutes of that time was spent getting the form-fitting uniform off and on.
Notice Cliff Hare Stadium in the background, that beautiful old facade of the football stadium looks a bit different now: closed on both ends, two big wings along the length of the field, 87,000-plus screaming fans on Saturday. I wonder how they'd react to The Gymnastabats.
