Simple. Chicks dig fast processor speeds.

There's certainly a recurring theme in the science fiction of the era when it comes to robots. This guy is instantly familiar to anyone who's watched a campy movie or two. But, still, he is distant. A quick Google search of the prominent sci-fi magazines of 1951-52 show only a few robots on the cover and they have more rounded physical characteristics.

This robot got both girls because he likes quiet walks (but not on the beach, the sand gets in his gears) and knows how to make a girl laugh. Turns out they are suckers for autocode humor.

Also, while he doesn't look it, he's a smoothie on the dance floor. And he can teacher your little sister how to jump rope and will take your grandmother down to the store, just to be nice.

This robot clearly has it all. Except for Fortran, which is fine. No one at Auburn has ever liked it. Robots yes, Fortran no.
