We're now into the activities section of the 1952 Glomerata. The first page was a photograph of what was likely the homecoming dance. One guy in the center was pointing directly at the photographer hiding in the band. Everyone else had cut eyes. Either they were all staring at other people's dates or something was happening in the wings. There was one guy staring ominously ahead at nothing. It looked like a Photoshop job for the "One of these things is not like the other" game. Or the guy you always hear about in the news: "He was always so quiet and kept to himself." That picture was too large to pull into this page given the template, but we'll see about revisiting it later.
The next 20 pages or so of the 1952 Glomerata are all shots of what is now lumped together as Student Life. Each was divided into key events, like the two page foldout on homecoming, part of which you see here.
Each page was littered with photographs and sketch drawings which went remarkably well with the pictures. Some of the characters were drawn to mimic the photographer's subjects. This one was intended to show the student's perceived bombast of the alumni.
Note how he's listening as the University asks for money?
Returning home after 50 years, these are the Golden Eagles of 1952. They graduated from API in 1902. The place was renamed Alabama Polytechnic Institute in 1899, so if any of these gentlemen were four-year students they initially enrolled at the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Alabama.
Some of them almost look unhappy. Maybe it is because they're around 70. Or because this was likely September, hot as blazes and they're in suits. Maybe they didn't like what others had done with the place. As different as the 1951-52 campus is today, this was worlds different from their old stomping grounds.
