This important looking man was from a company town. He was surrounded by iron, steel and textile mills.

And here he's surrounded by two daughters. One a happy homemaker, the other a working woman who spent a few years staffing offices before she met a hard-edged man and settled down.

They'd always be his little girls, but he'd lose them soon and he knew it. Notice how he's hanging on?

There was no note on the back of the photograph. Everyone who needed to know knew who was in this snapshot. Family pictures are like that.
